Events to visit on your Bournemouth Break

Renowned for its miles of golden sand and unbroken beaches, is it any surprise to you that Bournemouth was recently voted Best Beach Destination by Trip Advisor readers. However, the beaches aren’t the only reason for crowds of visitors ascending on the south coast each year, the great events Bournemouth has on all year round are what makes it the perfect place to get together with friends and family to enjoy some quality time.

If you’re not sure which events to visit while you’re in Bournemouth, let us point out some of the best to feature in the town over the next coming months…

Now in its thirteenth year, Classic Cars on the Prom returned to Bournemouth on 13th April. Positioned behind the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) on West Overcliff Promenade, they’ll be weekly displays throughout the summer up until 21st September.

New to the line-up of events taking place on the South Coast this year is Bournemouth Wheels Festival. A free, three day festival, with over 100 events – it’s sure to be fun for all the family. Get close to the sights and sounds of racing cars, supercars and bikes in action on the Wheels Festival demonstration course, or watch one of the daily parades on the cliff top overlooking the beach. Make sure you catch it this 24th – 26th May and be a part of Bournemouth’s event history.

Are you a food lover? Visit Bournemouth Food and Drink Festivalon 20th – 29th June. Bringing ten days of foodie fun to the South Coast they’ll be special events and cooking demonstrations. They’ll also be three distinctive food markets including; a ten day Street Food Festival, a three day Farmers and Producers Market and a three day World Food Market. So if you like food don’t miss out, come and taste what Bournemouth has to offer this June.

Perhaps Bournemouth’s most famous event, welcoming more than 5.8 million people since 2008, the Bournemouth Air Festival returns for its seventh year this August. Held on 28th – 31st August, the 1.5 mile festival site is located between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers, including the East Overcliff. Voted one of the Top 10 Air Shows in the World by USA Today, catch in the air; The Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, RAF Typhoon and local legend the Sea Vixen. That’s not all though, there is also plenty to see on the ground and at sea with both the Army and Royal Navy often getting involved.
