Explore Historical Buildings with Menzies
April 5, 2013
We’re proud to say that a number of our hotels are listed buildings, and we always take great care to elegantly furnish these properties and highlight period features – while also incorporating elements of contemporary décor. For example, the Menzies London Prince Regent combines the grandeur of a Georgian house with the unique conversion of an old chapel, while the Stratford upon Avon Welcombe Hotel Spa and Golf Club is a Jacobean-style house originally built in 1866.
Heritage and architecture has always been very important to us, and it’s something we know our guests really appreciate. But we know we’re not the only attraction – our 15 hotels are situated across the UK in prime locations to visit some of the National Trust’s 200 historic houses or English heritage’s 400 sites. Menzies Irvine Hotel in Ayrshire is in close proximity to the stunning Dumfries House – one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes; and Birmingham’s Stourport Manor is a few miles from the spectacular ruins of Witley Court and its beautiful gardens.
The National Trust protects and opens to the public many historic houses and gardens, as well as industrial monuments and mills. They also look after coastline, forests, moorland, islands, castles, nature reserves, villages and even pubs. Their grounds offer wonderful places to visit – whatever the season. From the self-sufficient gardens of the medieval period through to the low-maintenance, ornamental gardens of the 20th-century, there are countless outdoor places to relax with plenty of space for the kids to run around.
Similarly, English Heritage exists to protect and promote England’s spectacular historic environment. Their aim is to help today’s generation discover, understand, value and appreciate the monuments of our past. They offer fantastic opportunities to explore archaeology, travel back in time with a trip to a historic castle, or escape to remote and tranquil ruins. You’re sure to have an adventure!
Book your historical break with Menzies Hotels today, and see the best of what the UK has to offer while enjoying the comfort and convenience of a stay with us. Our staff are always on hand to advise you on the best local attractions, and you can relax in our very own beautiful surroundings on your return.
