This is a good hotel which is clean and good service, just what you want for short business or shopping break. The bus stop is outside or parking available on site. Outside appearance may put you off but inside is good. I had a newly refurbished room which is furnished to a high standard, plenty of room with comfortable bed and two comfortable chairs, large screen TV with lots of channels. Plus free Wi-Fi. The breakfast buffet was replenished with hot fresh ingredients regularly. This is the second visit to the hotel and again not disappointed. Excellent value for money.

“The place to stay in Birmingham”
Very welcoming, staff are attentive and take care to provide all the information needed. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with good facilities. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the service was excellent also. Checking in and out was painless! This hotel is very accessible by public transport or a very reasonable taxi fare.

“Excellent for a short stay”
For a short one or two night stay, this hotel is ideal. We were on the 7th floor and although we were in a standard double room, it was a little bit small, but it was cosy. The rooms are nicely furnished and warm, and they are modern and comfortable. Location is good, there is parking at the hotel. If you want to get into the city centre it is a straight walk which takes about 30 mins, or there are very frequent buses at £2 for a single trip into the city centre.

Stayed here with colleagues. Room well equipped and spacious, though funny shape. I have never stayed in a round room before. Had evening meal and breakfast and no complaint about both. Situated on the main road so I was expecting a lot of noise, but found it very quiet and slept very well.

“Friendly, Comfortable and Cosy”
I was very impressed with this hotel – despite being quite big, the staff were courteous, the rooms very cosy, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. I had a great night’s sleep and was looked after well in the morning when I went down to breakfast late – the buffet was finished but they made me a freshly cooked breakfast. Very nice indeed – I wouldn’t hesitate in returning.

“Good rooms and location”
This is a good hotel, modern and in a good location. The room we had was more of a suite and was spacious and well equipped. We did have a problem with the room actually being a little too hot as the air con had gone mad that particular day but the staff very quickly arrived with a couple of fans to cool us down so no complaints there. We stayed as part of a conference so our food was pre-arranged and it was good. The bar area is well laid out and more than adequate choice of drinks. This hotel has parking too. Staff friendly and efficient. Recommend this hotel.

“Good quality rooms, nice decor and great location with parking”
Location is great for town. Bus stop outside both sides and only £2 per person for a single bus trip into the town centre. Plenty of parking, both external and internal floors 1 and 2.
The food was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast. The reception, bar and cleaning staff were great.

“Fantastic customer service, excellent value for money”
We spent four nights here, and although the room was a little on the small side at the end of the bed, which actually wasn’t an issue as all we needed the room for was sleeping, it was a wonderful stay and would highly recommend a stay here. The staff were very professional and accommodating, relaxed and welcoming.
On Saturday morning we were leaving the hotel quite early for a day out and the hotel provided us with a ‘Grab and Go’ breakfast to take with us, we just let them know what we would like and they prepared it, bagged it up and gave us take away tea and coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times.
Dinner was excellent and great value, and on a morning when they had run out of soya milk a member of staff went to the shop to go get some for my coffee! Room service was superb and punctual. I will most certainly stay here anytime I am in Birmingham! Customer service was fault less!!

“Very kind staff, home from home.”
The room was only a single but was well equipped and very clean. Breakfast and dinner very good choices and plenty of variety. Would definitely stay again, maybe for Christmas shopping as it’s also handy for the Bull Ring.

The Menzies Hotel offered comfortable clean rooms simply furnished. There was a fitness centre and swimming pool for the active. We had great service in the dining room and a gluten free menu was no trouble to the chef. There were comfortable lounge areas scattered throughout this large hotel which also had a steady stream of guests each night for special occasions such as weddings and proms. Set in large gardens with many nearby walks.

“Great breakfast, good location”
We stayed here for 2 nights during a research trip at the University of Birmingham. Lots of business-types noted at breakfast–which, by the way, was fresh, abundant and impressive.

From check in to departure everything was perfect…fast check-in happy, friendly reception man greeting us promptly checking us in a clean comfortable room. Reception staff always remembered our names and were most helpful if you need any info on places to eat and drink etc.
We ate in the restaurant and this was really good food, very tasty, plus the breakfast was a high-point for us with lots of choice. All I can say is it was lovely and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to go here!

We had our wedding anniversary here and have stayed over a few times and it’s just close to being a perfect place to stay. Close enough to the city centre for comfort.
Quality, quality, quality!

“This is what good looks like”
Can’t really add much more than what other reviewers have said. This is a marvellous hotel and ran exactly as a hotel should be ran. Customer service is just one of the place’s many plus points.

Two night stay, the room was lovely, best nights sleep ever!. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. A little hot for my liking, but was able to turn down the radiators. Staff were brilliant from start to finish. Breakfast was plentiful, hot and delicious.

“Christmas At The Menzies”
An excellent welcome awaited us at The Strathallen as I arrived with my tour group to spend 4 nights over the Christmas period. We were met by both Kevin and Richard and were taken for afternoon tea whilst our luggage was whisked away to the rooms. All accommodation requests from the group had been met which was great news for me as tour manager – no problems to deal with!

“Another enjoyable stay”
What made me book this hotel was that I’d enjoyed my previous stays here and I wasn’t disappointed this time, especially as there were so many new and positive changes since my last visit.
One of the reasons I like staying at this hotel is it’s easy to get to from the motorway and parking is free (a big bonus when many city hotels now charge for parking).
What particularly struck me on arrival this time though was how open and welcoming the ground floor area now is. It’s a far more pleasant place to sit, relax and enjoy a drink in than it had been on my previous visit. Hats off to whoever came up with the idea for these changes.
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, as they always have been in the past. While I’ve always found the food very good, this time round there seemed to be a new breakfast menu. This was terrific – plenty of variety and delicious, well-cooked food, a good start to the day.
As a frequent business traveller, I think I can give no higher recommendation than I will not hesitate to use the Strathallan again when I’m next in Birmingham.

“Fantastic Customer Service”
I stayed at the Menzies Strathallan Hotel in Birmingham for one night only as I was doing the Birmingham half. I arrived and the staff were fantastic, the receptionist in particular was really welcoming and friendly. The room was lovely and on top of that very good value. The next day the same receptionist sorted me a taxi and helped me with my parking.
I booked a single room, exceptional value, nice clean room, not too small. have stayed in poky singles before and this was better then the norm. They had a great breakfast, I requested porridge but thought the breakfast looked yummy. I would get a taxi from the station if I hadn’t been driving but there is a brilliant bus service on the door step. Even as I was waiting outside for my taxi, staff who were going into work asked if they could help me.
At times, we have an expectation of hotels having high standards etc but this hotel met that. It also had the extra factor of having a staff who seemed to care / are interested in their customers and enjoy their job. This was a much nicer place to stay then some hotels where you are treated a just a number, I will definitely book this hotel again and will tell my friends too.

”Friendly & fabulous”
I took a party of 34 to stay for 4 nights at this great hotel. From the outside it looks disappointing but inside was great. The bedrooms were quirky, but then the hotel is round, the beds were the most comfortable that any of us have slept in at an hotel, even the single rooms had 4ft beds!. Good TV in every room. The hotel is very clean and well furnished. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and always smiling – nothing appeared to be too much trouble. the food was excellent, even catering for one of us with Coeliac disease (intolerance to cereal). Our only critisism was the lack of drawer space (which the manager assured me they are trying to rectify). All of us would stay at this hotel again.
