“Great stay with the family”
Great family room, lovely evening meal and excellent breakfast. The staff were very friendly, the pool was great and I didn’t feel like the kids were a nuisance. I would recommend this as a great family friendly hotel.

“Comfy, warm and cosy”
The title says it all, this was our second visit and I’d happily stay again, the staff are warm and welcoming, rooms to a good standard, clean, always comfortable and relaxing after a hard weekend at Alton Towers. Although a bit pricey it’s in a good location with ample facilities. The breakfast provided a wide choice and always left us feeling content.

“Family room after alton towers”
We used this as a return base from a full day at Alton Towers for all the family. The room we had allocated is at the top of the hotel and has velux windows in the roof offering a great night view of the stars, it also has electric blackout blinds meaning you can get some sleep too! Room was excellent and the staff were helpful. Would definitely recommend one of the refurbished rooms.

“The goodbye was the icing on the cake”
I’m not sure if all Menzies Hotels are like this, but if so I’m very impressed with their staff training. The modern hotel building had a lovely circular sunken lounge and a glass lift, the informal relaxed atmosphere in the public areas made it feel a real home from home. The breakfast was really good, as was our ‘ set meal’ evening meal, with very attentive and helpful waiting staff.
Our room was huge, with a balcony and a sofa, coffee table and chair as well as a gigantic bed, which was very comfy. Room was spotlessly clean and all the carpets and soft furnishings were fresh.
One of the senior managers came on to the coach to thank us for staying and wished us a nice day and safe journey. It was also an opportunity to check everyone had handed in their room key. But no matter, it was a nice touch and left us all feeling that we had been very honoured guests. Well done Menzies Mickleover Court. Will recommend and definitely return when visiting Derbyshire again.

“Great hotel for a peak district break with dinner”
This is a smart modern very comfortable hotel in a pleasant suburb conveniently located for visiting the Peak District. Our 145 sq ft standard room was exactly as shown on the hotel’s website with all the usual facilities of a 4* rating. The communal areas were attractive and sumptuous and the leisure facilities looked really good but we did not have time to try them.
The breakfast buffet was extensive and very tasty but we were disappointed that the special vegetarian dish was not available both occasions it was requested. What really made our stay memorable was dining in the Brasserie where the waiters were so helpful and the chef so accommodating to our dietary needs the first night (included in the package) that we dined again there the second night. The food is absolutely delicious. We would have no hesitation in returning to this lovely hotel where the service is so good and you get real value for money.

We stayed here for a two night weekend break and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was large and spacious and very clean with a very comfortable bed and efficient and easy to operate air conditioning. We enjoyed a delicious three course dinner in the restaurant and found the staff very helpful and attentive. The restaurant was very busy at breakfast time and we did encounter a problem when we were shown to two different tables which were both already occupied but it was third time lucky and the waiter was very apologetic. There was an excellent choice of hot and cold food for breakfast although due to the large number of people the staff were struggling at times to replenish everything. We will certainly return for another break in this hotel.

“Wonderful sTAFf – excellent hotel!”
We had this hotel as our base for the National Fire Service Bowling Championships. The staff are wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms were lovely and clean and the bed really comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you plan a trip to Derby.

“Really Friendly Staff”
I stayed here last week on a business trip and was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the hotel a stone’s throw away from a busy little village but the staff were amongst the nicest I have experienced in a hotel.
Food in the restaurant was good – generous portions for reasonable prices so you definitely did not go hungry and drinks at the bar were really well priced for a hotel.

We stayed here for 1 night and had a great time. Upon entering the hotel you get a WOW factor. We used the leisure facilities and they were good, I also had a beauty treatment that was very relaxing.
The rooms are clean and good quality, the staff are pleasant and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant and again, you could not fault it.
A truly great experience. We will definitely be staying again.

“Comfortable, nice bedroom particularly, good breakfast”
A comfortable stay overnight for a short visit to Derby. Great bedroom, hotel quite full, breakfast great – good cooked breakfast, nice croissant. Didn’t use the health club, so can’t comment on that. Would certainly book again if I needed to stay near Derby

“The best Christmas at a hotel we have ever experienced”
What a wonderful hotel this is. My hubby and I came over from Canada to Derby and my sister and her husband treated us to four days at this hotel over Christmas. We loved every minute of it. It was the best service we have experienced by far at any other hotel. Whatever we asked for was accommodated if possible and the staff were so polite and friendly that other hotels should take note.

“Fantastic Dinner Dance”
Me and my husband had a fantastic time at the dinner dance on 5th January. It was for my husbands birthday. We stayed overnight and our room was lovely and very comfortable. Usually at these organised dances the food is just alright, but the 3 course dinner was great. The beef and turkey was delicious and the veg was piping hot. The staff had a very slick operation and ensured everybody got served and didn’t have to wait long.

“Just love this hotel.”
Stayed for a weekend with my partner, daughter and her friend. We had rooms next to each other and it was handy to pop onto the balcony (and for fun!) if we needed to speak to each other. The whole of the hotel, and our rooms, were spotlessly clean and we just loved the gorgeous staircase and the lift to the upper floors.
The breakfasts were delicious, as was the afternoon tea we sampled on one of the afternoons. The food in the restaurant was also tasty and well cooked. It was served by attentive and friendly staff who were there if you wanted them but not so noticeable that it became uncomfortable. The only slight niggle, and this isn’t the only hotel we have encountered this, is having an allocated amount to spend on food. We much prefer it in places where you pay the weekend price and that is it. Anything a little more expensive for the evening meal just has a supplement added to it. We did hear people on the next table complaining about this too so, maybe it would be a good idea for Menzies to consider this option.
Oh yes, the pool was also a delight. I don’t always join my partner in hotel pools but this one looked so inviting, I couldn’t resist. The changing room was clean too.
All in all, a really pleasant stay at Mickleover Court and, even though it is so close to a busy road there was no traffic noise whatsoever.
