“Very good food in a nice restaurant”
We just used the restaurant for a dinner with another couple. We thoroughly enjoyed everything on the menu & received excellent service. The menu offered a very good selection, except the desserts which were a little more limited. All in all a very enjoyable evening.

“Charming hotel, great location”
We attend a masonic Ladies Weekend at the Carlton and could not of been more please with the room we were allocated a superior room overlooking the sea. The room was large, airy and well appointed with armchairs and mini fridge. The staff were friendly welcoming and the food very palatable.

Spent a fantastic weekend at the Carlton! The room surpassed all expectations, it was very spacious, spotless, with extremely comfy bed & great sea views.
The staff worked tirelessly to ensure our every need was met. And the food was cooked to perfection! Our thanks to all the hardworking & very courteous staff who looked after us, you are a credit to the company! We will definitely be back.

“A very pleasant weekend”
I wanted a quality hotel that was dog friendly and I wanted it on the sea front cliff top. Well the Menzies could not have been better positioned, absolutely ideal for beach doggy walks and perfect for walking down to the pier, gardens and town centre.
The hotel itself was lovely, staff very pleasant and we had a large lovely seafront room which was warm and comfortable except for hard pillows from which I am still suffering and a lovely large balcony ideal for the dog. Management even gave us a bowl full of rock sweets which was a very nice gesture, which we all enjoyed. We ate at the hotel both nights as we couldn’t leave the premises with our little Jack Russell still in the room. We had two lovely evenings in the very nice dining room enjoying the superb food.
We look forward to our next stay!

“One night in Bournemouth”
A colleague and I spent a night here for business, with use of the conference room as well. All the arrangements worked well and the hotel looked after us very well.
Bedrooms were small but clean and well presented. Dinner, breakfast, and lunch were tasty and service efficient. The location of the hotel was good for us, we had a walk along the sea front and also into town for some fresh air.

Just returned from a two night break with my husband with a great deal – cream tea on arrival, three course dinner and breakfast plus use of the leisure facilities and a spa treatment each.
Absolutely brilliant from the pre-arrival assistance, to the end of our stay. Our room was huge with a good view. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. The bathroom was well equipped with plenty of clean towels, toilet paper and toiletries.
We really have to compliment the restaurant staff – their attention to detail was magnificent and they all worked extremely hard as a team to make the meal experience flow. They all seemed very pleasant. The dinner menu was varied and the standard of food excellent – really meaty lamb shanks and West Country beef and delicious duckling.
Breakfast was also excellent – loads of fresh fruit, steaming porridge, fresh bread you could cut yourself and plenty of choice on the cooked breakfast front. I feel that mass catering on this scale must be difficult so we are happy to excuse slightly hard bacon. The coffee flowed and you could have as much to eat and drink as you wanted.
The pool, sauna and jacuzzi were great – open early in the morning with cheerful, pleasant staff.
A huge thank you to The Carlton – we have not had a break together for a few years and it has been a gruelling few months for my husband while having hospital treatments. Everyone was fantastic – we were unable to name each individual staff member as we are visually challenged by age to read all the names on the badges! But many thanks to Sheila especially and all the restaurant staff.
Will definitely return because of our excellent experience and this is a good location for visiting the area.

“COMMENDATION TO THE STAFF AND THE HOTEL”
We have just got back and missing you all at the Carlton. Our break was so wonderful and relaxing and so special as always. Thank you all the meals were sensational and service from staff second to none. Our room is always spotlessly clean and so comfortable. Reception staff are all ready to assist you in every way and make each and every guest so welcome and special. Restaurant staff serve very efficiently to make sure your meal is perfect. They go out of their way to make your meals perfect. The chefs cook delicious meals in spotlessly clean kitchen and are award winning Chefs and cater to all tastes. All staff are so amazing and make our stay just wonderful. Keep up the good work as we always appreciate everything you all do for us our family and all guests that stay at the Carlton. Missing you all cannot wait to come back!

Great hotel on Bournemouth sea front. We were warmly welcomed by a very friendly lady on reception who couldn’t do enough for us. The room was very spacious, clean and bright. Big TV, big comfy bed with a fold out sofa bed for our 10 year old. Tea, coffee, hair dryer, free Wi-Fi, bathrobes etc really made our one night stay very comfortable. Had a great night’s sleep and a hearty all you can eat full English buffet breakfast the next morning. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be my first choice for any future visits.

Stayed for one night in the superior room with ocean view. Could not fault the hotel at all, feels quite grande inside, staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Room was very clean, comfortable, spacious with a small balcony, which allowed us to take in the stunning view. Good selection of food at breakfast, both continental and English available. Also very useful was free parking (which they allowed us to leave our car at after we had checked out, so we could walk into the town centre again – which is just a 10 minute walk along the seafront), plus free WI-FI.

“BEST HOLIDAY EVER”
We have just returned from our regular August stay at the Carlton hotel and we have to say that without a doubt it was the best holiday we have had there. Despite the hotel being fully booked the whole time with families, older couples and loads of kids the smooth running of the hotel was not affected, everyone was catered for by caring efficient staff. The manager was dedicated to making sure that we all enjoyed our stay and was always around for any of our needs. We did not want to leave.

“Lovely staff, great location”
Stayed here as part of a hen weekend package, the staff are really helpful, room was huge as was the bathroom, clean, comfy beds. The location is great, right by the sea. Outdoor pool is nice, warm and not too crowded. The facilities are good. Breakfast was lovely. Overall it’s a good hotel, staff always helpful and would stay again.

“Very nice hotel”
I and my husband stayed in Menzies Carlton Hotel from 27.07.13 for two nights and I feel like this hotel needs some positive reviews. I cannot fault the staff in the hotel in any way, we felt very welcomed and nothing was too much bother for them. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly. The room was lovely and spacious with air conditioning and well equipped. Overall I would recommend the hotel to friends and family the location is lovely just right opposite lovely sandy beach and close to the city centre.

A great 4* hotel, top of east Cliff in the town, but not too far to the main town centre and pier. Sea view rooms offer a real ocean view and with just a small road running between hotel and cliff top, you get the sense of being out at sea. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The room given was a large double and the décor was in keeping with the style of hotel, old traditional, with quite a few modern touches. Breakfast was great, being buffet and service, depending on your desire and order. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We visited our very good friends in Bournemouth at the weekend and we went for a meal at the Carlton hotel. The meal we had was arguably the best meal we have ever experienced whilst eating out, congratulations to the chef, we could not fault anything. We will look forward to going back to the Carlton when we next visit our friends in Bournemouth who will hopefully treat us to a meal there again.

Had a lovely stay for 2 nights at this hotel at the beginning of May. The hotel is very traditionally decorated and has plenty of facilities including an indoor and outdoor pool and spa treatments. All the staff were very helpful and if me and my partner were to stay in Bournemouth again, we would certainly come back.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The rooms were spacious, the staff helpful, the breakfast nice, the water hot and the parking FREE! Close distance to the town and very close to the beach. We stayed here as part of a stag booking and all of us have said we would love to come back and bring our families etc.

“Ideal location very accommodating”
As a group of 5 girls looking for night life and a break from our hectic lives, this hotel was perfect. Staff are professional and very helpful. Rooms and public areas very clean. Great location for beach, days out, restaurants and night life. Food was amazing as was the spa. Very accommodating for all people whether your a couple, family or friends. Special thanks to Sheila on reception for all her help throughout our trip and the restaurant and bar staff.

We just celebrated my daughters wedding at the Carlton, The hotel and staff were brilliant. They cleared the reception before the bride arrived, so we didn’t have to fight our way in. The food was excellent, served quickly well presented and hot. The room we hired (the Meyrick suite) was a good size and looked good for the ceremony the wedding breakfast and the evening party. The managers were always keeping an eye on proceedings and everything ran smoothly. Can not thank the team enough. Would certainly recommend the Carlton for any occasion and certainly for weddings

“WHAT LOVELY STAFF”
I recently worked as a Toastmaster at this hotel and must say the staff were all very good, they were attentive and looked after the guests throughout the banquet. Igor the banqueting manager that night, and the waiting staff kept everything flowing from the kitchen and the evening was enjoyed by all the guests.

“A REALLY GOOD HOTEL”
We stayed overnight at the Carlton in Bournemouth as our walking group held their annual black tie dinner there. Our room was very big; bathroom even had a bidet and a double shower, one on the wall and a second off the taps; towels were bathsheet size and good; they supplied bathrobes [at too many one has to ask]. The dinner, with 100+ guests, was really good: food much better than at most similar events where the numbers tend to compromise the quality. Table service, managed by the maitre d’ was flawless, each table served together at one hit.

“Couldn’t ask for a better experience”
This hotel is brilliant no the decor is not new and a bit old fashioned but that just makes the hotel so unique the staff are friendly and helpful the restaurant and food was spectacular the head chef Richard does this hotel proud. The rooms were clean and very spacious and sea views are lovely. The receptionist who checked us in Kelly was so polite and extremely helpful we couldn’t have asked for a better check-in I would advise anyone staying in Bournemouth to stay here.

“Wonderful, elegant Hotel”
I stayed at this hotel in May while attending a Conference in the town. This is my 5th stay at the Carlton. Previous comments have been made about the tired appearance of the rooms and I can concur with those remarks in past years. However……The Carlton is undergoing a big programme of improvements and they are steadily working through a refurbishment of all rooms. I stayed in room 215 and it was superb. A large room with new furnishings, modern TV and fittings. The linen was crisp and clean. I had a view of the sea and the headland from my super king bed. The en-suite was not huge but perfectly adequate. Plenty of power in the shower and an assortment of Gilchrest & Soames products that were replenished daily. The room had a kettle, a good selection of teas/ coffees + biscuits, again replenished daily. Also provided daily was bottled water, both sparkling and still. The room was spotlessly clean and bathrobes were also provided. The only very slight thing I would say about the room is that it didn’t have a fridge. I checked with other colleagues staying and none of their rooms had a fridge either. However, when I asked at reception they immediately found me a mini fridge and it was installed in my room within an hour of my request.
Breakfast was a good choice of cereals/ fresh fruits/ yoghurts/ breads + a full English if required. This is terrific value for the standard and choice available. Tea/ coffee/ toast were in constant supply. The dining room had a lovely feel to it with high ceilings and a view out to the gardens. It’s very elegant and has a lovely old charm about it. Again, spotlessly clean. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. There is a high number of foreign staff but they all speak wonderful English so there was no language confusion for guests.
The outdoor swimming pool was undergoing a refurbishment (too cold to swim outdoor for me anyway). There is also extensive work going on in the garden. There is plenty of free parking at the rear of the hotel.
While I stay here for business I would have no hesitation in bringing my family for a stay in this lovely hotel. The refurbishments make this a very good 4 star hotel.
